Ela means leaf and Kizhi means bundle. It is used to treat diseases of the bones, neurological system, and joints. Depending on the ailment, the most usually utilised leaves are tamarind, drumstick, Calatropis gigentica, and others, which are chopped and blended with lemon, shredded coconut, and other ingredients. This mixture is then cooked in sesame oil and wrapped into boluses with linen fabric. It is then placed into an oil-filled pot to heat the components. Then, for around 10 to 15 minutes, a gentle massage with warm boluses is performed. Following completion, the body is wrapped in a large blanket and the patient is instructed to take a hot water bath. This therapy, also called as leaf bag massage, incorporates fresh leaves from anti-vata herbs, coconut leaves, curcumin, lemon, and a variety of other herbal compounds.
